Well even though it is half way through the week, better late than never.
I had high hopes for my weekend, but I should have known that things do not always go as planned.
Friday started out wonderful! After work, Josh and I planned to have a double date with my parents (we do this often). My parents were raving about how the commercials for The Grey looked so good.
Commercials are deceiving...but I will get to that later. When we got to the Regal movie theater, we found out that the theater was closed because of sewage flooding. Did I mention that Josh and I had free tickets/gift certificate to the Regal....poo, guess we will use them another time. So we changed our plans and went to dinner first and decided to catch the movie at a later time in the theater near Memorial Ave (in the ghetto of Lynchburg, where a lot of people get mugged).
Dinner was really nice: good service at Logans, free peanuts, full belly, etc. Well after dinner, I was so sleepy from my meal and the long day at work...I was at work at 6:30 AM that morning...enough said. I did not feel like sitting through a 2 hour movie to begin with, but then....the worst happened. We go see The Grey and it turns out to be the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life. Not a dramatization, it literally was the worst thing I have ever seen/heard, mainly because the movie submitted a curse word every 2.75 seconds. I have never heard the "F" word so many times in my life. I am convinced that the movie used the cursing for Morse Code, because the language did not serve a purpose. It was almost as if they randomly through in a curse word here and there.
After a certain point, of hearing such filth, a rage inside me began to build. Keep in mind, I am sitting in the movie with my parents....AWKWARD!. So we debate walking out, which we should have. But instead we were persuaded into thinking that the end must be great....WRONG. It gets worse. Liam Neeson because angrily accusing God that He is at fault for all the crud he went through in life (which probably relates to his real life). And the movie pretty much portrayed God as a God puts people through "hell" on earth and then abandons them. It made my heart hurt because some people actually believe that. To rap this up, the ending was awful, just like the movie. Spoiler alert: Liam Neeson does not kill the alfa-male wolf. It does not even show a fight...waste of 10 dollars.
On a lighter note, the rest of my weekend was great! It was very relaxing, should have been more productive, but everyone deserves a couple days to just rest :)
